Steampunk is a subgenre of SF influenced by the technology and aesthetics of 19th century steam-powered machinery. Stories are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century but can also be about future or fantasy worlds in which steam power plays a large role in society. There is a wide range of steampunk literature, art, and fashion, and this panel will serve as an introductory overview of steampunk as a whole.
